UCI welcomes new professionals in training
On the morning of September 4th, the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) welcomed the 153 new professionals, 140 of them graduated from this institution, who are starting their working lives.
In the gathering, held in the theater of José Martí school building, the new trainees were given the necessary information by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Sc. Raydel Montesino Perurena; the Director of Human Resources, MSc. Mailín Ochoa Calzadilla, and other members of the University Council.
The Deputy Rector first informed the attendees that this academic year will be marked by three important events: the 15th Anniversary of the University; the opening of a new career in this house of higher studies (Bioinformatics Engineering) and the continuation of the second course for technicians on Network and computer security (a total of 123 students in both courses; and lastly, the institutional evaluation process that will be carried out by the National Accreditation Board (JAN) next December.
In addition, the Director of Human Resources highlighted important aspects to be considered for the satisfactory development of these young graduates during their social service period; she referred to the duties they will fulfill as new workers and explained issues related to the salary to be earned and the additional stimulus payment. Likewise, she announced the schedule established to deliver the documentation for their recruitment, and called attention to the role of the 20 trainees who have become members of the academic staff that will support the educational process of the undergraduate course at the University.
Likewise, Dr. Sc. Montesino insisted on the importance of professional development for the graduates, urging them to follow postgraduate studies in courses that, upon completion of their training program, would provide them credits to enroll either in the four Master’s Programs offered by this institution; in the courses of the new specialties, awaiting approval from MES: Computer Security, Legal Informatics, Free Software and Medical Informatics; or in the Doctoral Training Program at UCI.
The audience also received important information from the Vicerector for Academic Affairs, the Vicerector for Production, the Vicerector for University Extension.
To conclude, some of the trainees expressed their concerns related to their professional development, teaching ranks, transportation, food and telematic services, and everything was explained by the executives who attended the meeting.
