As a tribute to the 164 anniversary of the birth of the Cuban National Hero, the University of Informatics  Sciences (known as UCI) named  José Martí  the teaching building 3, headquarter of school  1, and inaugurated the square of this institution dedicated t the apostle.

The event was presided  by PH.D. Miriam Nicado García, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Council of State, and rector of the UCI; Ph.D.  Ailyn Febles Estrada, president of the Cuban Information Technology Union; Carlos Medina Pérez and Tomás Valdés Becerra, executive secretary and secretary of the Party of the Cultural Society José Martí, respectively; Members of the University Council and a representation of students, professors and workers of the university community.

On behalf of the Young Communists Union  (known as UJC), the Secretary of the Primary Committee of school  1, Yaiselis Ramírez Mastrapa, said that they proudly receive the name of the apostle and that they will know to live up to Martí and Fidel.

The occasion was appropriate  to deliver the card of the UJC to a group of young people starting in the organization, to recognize with the Distinction for Cuban Education Maritza Calaña Hernández, Leonardo Castillo Martínez, Mónica Cortina Castellanos and Ph.D. Lidia Ruiz Ortiz ; As well as granting the Frank País of Second Degree order to Ph.D. Vivian Estrada Sentí.

The central words of the act were in charge of the dean of school 1, MSc. Delly Lien González Hernández, who in her speech ratified the commitment of this house of high studies with the Apostle and our undefeated Commander in Chief.

She affirmed that the school that presides, that in 10 graduations has promoted 2 036 engineers in Computer Science, will continue with the formation of qualified students and patriots, who know how to defend the Revolution, developing applications and putting their knowledge in favor of society.

As a closing  of the tribute, the office of Marti´s Program and the José Martí Cultural Society gave the  multimedia "Martí y Fidel, continuation of thought and action" to the Informatics  Sciences University, a compendium that will be available to all and can be consulted to know  more about  the life and work of these two men  that have guided the Cuban nation.
