Since La Lisa began to organize Partial Elections (this is the municipality where the University of Informatics Sciences is located), this house of higher studies has unconditionally supported the commission in charge of making this highly important political process develop satisfactorily.

The University support has been given with the delivery of a software, of great acceptance, where all the information is added, therefore, facilitating the quality and the agility in the delivery of data, while at the same time guaranteeing its veracity, by avoiding errors.

Additionally, three UCI comrades with revolutionary skills and willingness to comply with any task were selected to support the election process. They are currently working in the Electoral Commission of La Lisa, which has seven People's Councils. With the conviction that everything should turn out well, they gave up their vacations, engaging themselves with responsibility and hard work to the realization of this necessary task.

One of them is Lic. Alier Pérez Carmona, a professor from the Sports Department, who is now working as a vocal member  in Valle Grande, Bello 26 and El Cano neighborhoods. There are three vocal members working as a team, with the responsibility of organizing the entire process of nominating candidates in the base, from the structure of the constituencies (president, secretary and vocal), to the staff that supports the work of the electoral college or polling place.

Eng. Manuel Reina, specialist B in Computer Science of the Center of Industrial Informatics, and Lic. Julio Antonio Tejera Castillo, general specialist of the Direction of Institutional Communication, are the other two UCI workers that support the development of the Candidate Nomination Assembly, both as executives of the Municipal Commission. In order to learn more about the work they do, Mella  Newspaper reporters spoke with Julio Antonio, Julito, as he is known by his colleagues.

- How did you start your collaborative work?

- There was a training first, and then the schedule for the assemblies was planned, which are about 450 in La Lisa, distributed by the Popular Councils. The process started quite well but was interrupted because of the Hurricane Irma; nevertheless, on October 9 we resumed the nominations.

"We have to guarantee that the methodology for the realization of each assembly is followed; besides, we must find the person who will pronounce the initial speech and someone to take the minutes. It is also our responsibility to ensure that there is transparency, massiveness and an atmosphere of joy, making it possible for the people to select the best, the most capable, and seeing that there is a representation of the young people among them.”

- The effort is great.

- It's indeed some pretty hard work. The assemblies are starting at eight o'clock at night, and the Municipal Commission meets daily, from nine to eleven o'clock in the morning to review the whole process, as  each time an assembly is held, the nominees must immediately deliver their biographical synthesis and a picture. So,  we finish very late at night.

"We work from Monday to Sunday, without rest, because there are assemblies that are held on weekends, especially in rural areas where there are no conditions to meet at night."

- Tell me about the integration of UCI comrades to the Municipal Commission.

- There is a good atmosphere and a positive criterion of UCI personnel. We have integrated ourselves with a lot of discipline, respect, professionalism, responsibility and simplicity, convinced that we are going to carry out that task. We are characterized by unconditionality.

"When we were summoned, we immediately joined the Commission, learning about the Electoral Law and about this process, which in some way is new for us, because we had been seeing it from the outside. But now we are inside, valuing all the effort that needs to be done so that the elections come out with the quality that our revolutionary process deserves.

"We have been comprehensive and multifaceted. We do whatever we are asked to, in time and well".

- And about the progress of the process, what can you tell us?

- So far without major setbacks. When a review of the process is made in the province of Havana, La Lisa is having satisfactory results. The first secretary of the Party and the president of the Municipal Electoral Commission accompany us every night.

"This process is also supported by the University management, always concerned about the way we feel and how they can help us. For example, in the Institutional Communication Directorate to which I belong, the Director and the Deputy Director have sometimes phoned me, as well as my colleagues in the Information Department.

"The idea is to finish the candidate nomination process by October 26 or 27, which is very important to go on with the other processes that we must guarantee."

- How important do you think your contribution is?

- This is a political task of the highest importance, which starts with our personal example. We are contributing with our experience as managers with responsibilities at UCI at some moment, and also with our knowledge of computer tools.

"In my case, I'm supporting the Punta Brava Council, which is the most distant that the municipality has. There I have participated in all the meetings, starting with the Pilot Assembly. Every night we meet at seven o'clock in the local of the town’s Computer Club; we review the conditions and see that the electors have been summoned with the 72 hours of advance that the Law establishes.

“We have complied well with every responsibility that they have given us; we have done it promptly, with discipline, with simplicity, with dedication. We have talked a lot with the staff working there, giving them all our support. UCI team has been outstanding, although we must say that all the members of the Commission have shown the same level of commitment.

"We feel motivated and committed because La Lisa is one of the municipalities in the province that is working quite well, and this is in some way due to the UCI comrades."
