Reunion of FEU leaders with history
The University Student Federation (FEU) of our higher studies institution initiates the 2017-2018 academic year with new liveliness in the leadership of the organization, starting with the summer course to its leaders developed since August 23.
Last Wednesday, as part of the activities that will run until Friday, September 1, the students, guided by the FEU president at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), Eliani Cabrera García, and the representatives of the UJC and the CTC in the institution visited the city of Santa Clara.
In that city, they paid tribute to Che in the Heroic Warrior Sculpture Complex and also visited the Armored Train Museum, among other historical and cultural sites of the city.
The province of Matanzas was the chosen destination of the students this Friday. The tour along “the Athens of Cuba” started in the scenic overlook of Bacunayagua (Mirador de Bacunayagua) and continued through the former Goucuría Garrison, current Centro Escolar Mártires del Goucuría, inaugurated by the leader of the Cuban Revolution in 1960.
Cárdenas, also known as “the flag city”, was the last stop of the tour through history made by FEU leaders. In the city center of Matanzas municipality, they visited José Antonio Echeverría’s birthplace home, the National Monument Museum “Oscar María de Rojas” and the Museum of the Battle of Ideas, founded by Fidel after the battle for the return to the Homeland of the child Elián González.
The FEU preparatory event, which also included among its activities the sanitation and organization of the FICI residence, starts on Monday the 28th with the preparation courses and concludes on Friday with the welcome to the new students.
