A mixture of forms and colors from the capital’s universities at UCI
On May 10th and 11th, the Provincial Plastic Arts Festival of the University Student Federation (FEU) amateur artists is held at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), with the presentation of more than 230 works in different spaces of the institution.
With different glimpses of our diverse and monolithic reality, the exhibition shows the creation of 249 amateur artists from eight higher education centers in the capital: the University of Havana, the Higher Institute of Foreign Affairs, the Higher Institute of Design, the Technological University of La Habana José Antonio Echeverría, the Enrique José Varona Pedagogical Sciences University , the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, the Higher Institute of Technologies and Applied Sciences, and the University of Informatics Sciences.
They covered genres such as painting, photography, caricature, digital art, drawing, crafts, engraving, ceramics, poster, performance, happening and installations.
The jury, made up of specialists from the Provincial Center for Community Culture and plastic artists, is chaired by José Augusto Estrada, who reported that next week there will be awarded gold, silver, bronze and mentions prizes to all the pieces of art that deserve it, out of which the gold awards will then be competing in the National Festival.
He added that the goal of the festival is to highlight and motivate amateur artists, who make quality creations, sometimes without the appropriate conditions, due to lack of resources or time.
Throughout UCI you can find artwork with a mixture of forms and colors, creative discourses oriented to the education of good will men and women.
