The Institutional Evaluation. An emotional Day of presentations
Close to being 15 and in the midst of preparations to celebrate its anniversary, this young university receives its first institutional evaluation. It is a challenge that will undoubtedly mark the transition from adolescence to maturity.
The day began with the accreditation and the official reception of the experts in the hall room Me Dicen Cuba. There, Eliani Cabrera García, FEU president at UCI, welcomed them to the University.
Later on they visited the University Bookstore, the Chess Room that honors Remberto Fernández and the History Room. In this place, from the voice of the historian Severino Hernández Pita, they were able to discover the foundational elements and other milestones that have marked the university work in these 15 years.
The first official working session of the evaluation team took place in the Protocol Room of the School Building José Martí. After receiving an explanation of campus in the Model of the University the sessions actually began.
Although the first formal meeting is held today with the presence of all the specialists that will be meeting at UCI until next Friday, December 8, it is fitting to note that the external evaluation process has been going on for several weeks, through the delivery and review of documents and the virtual exchange among colleagues.
The afternoon session began with the screening of the audiovisual material Connected to the future, connected to the Revolution, an evocation of UCI on its 15th Anniversary and a tribute to our main founder, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
Afterwards, introductions of both teams were done. Dr.Sc. Marcia Esther Noda Hernández, head of the Evaluation Commission explained the importance of this process and how it will be developed; this facilitated the introduction of her colleagues
On the other hand, Dr.Sc. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of the University of Informatics Sciences, introduced the members of the University Council and the FEU Council also attending that meeting.
Next, there was a presentation of the University. In her words, the Rector referred to our educational model, the integration among university processes, the productive activity, the social impact and commitment to the Revolution of this house of higher studies.
In concluding, the official photo of the institutional evaluation was taken at Plaza Mella. The experts and those being evaluated recorded this way the snapshot that continues to write our story.
