The first Technology Forum on Software Export "SOFEX 2017" is held at UCI
In order to promote the exchange between professionals from academic institutions, companies and entities of the ICT sector, the first Technology Forum on Software Exportation "SOFEX 2017" was held this Friday at the University of Informatics Sciences.
The opening words of the event were addressed by the rector, Dr. Sc., Miriam Nicado García, president of the organizing committee, who pointed out that this meeting is a suitable place to interact on this topic. She called for a balance of interests between companies and academies in order to achieve a sustainable software industry.
During the forum, which took place in the library of this institution, the B.A. Dayli Martínez Amorós, deputy director of the Center for the promotion of foreign trade and foreign investment (PROCUBA) delivered a lecture on PROCUBA services in the interest of foreign trade and investment.
In this same scenario, the software panel The R + D + i projects and human talent was held, moderated by the MSc., Reynaldo Rosado Roselló, Vice-Rector of Production at UCI. Key topics included the need to achieve the formalization of projects vis-à-vis entities and the application of technologies to replace exports.
As part of the program, Wilfredo Gonzales Vidal, Vice Minister of Communications, discussed the fundamental lines of the policy for the computerization of the Cuban society and the objectives set out to strengthen the software industry.
In his speech, Gonzales Vidal stressed that this industry has to be structurally organized, while he highlighted that it is necessary to continue developing the sector's own capabilities to boost software development in key sectors of the nation.
The 97 participants from the University of Informatics Sciences, the "Martha Abreu" University of Las Villas, as well as the entities Copextel, DATYS, XETID, DESOFT and SOFTEL found in this event the ideal space to boost export software, through the creation of productive chains and new business opportunities, which contributed to the vital preparation of the human resources of our country.
