This December 22nd marks the 55th anniversary of the Literacy Campaign in Cuba, through which it was possible to declare the country free of illiteracy in just one year, thanks to an army that invaded all corners of the island carrying weapons of Notebooks and teaching manuals. Since then the achievements of Cuban education have been one of the most valuable bastions of our people, as a legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro who promoted integral education for all, based on the Martians principle that "being educated is the only Way of being free ", which placed Cuba among the world leaders in education.

As a result of the ideas of our leader, the University of Informatics  Sciences has graduated over 14,000 young people over the past 14 years, many of whom have had the privilege of contributing to the formation of new generations. As part of their training, a large movement of  assistant students  teach classes in pre-university and secondary schools in the capital, standing out for the quality of their work and personal academic results. Continuing with the pedagogical legacy of Martí, Varela and Fidel, in addition to honoring them at all times, are the goals of our more than 2,000 workers, of which 600 teachers, among which are 65 doctors and more than 300 masters, who carry out the task of building the future of the country from the classrooms.

For all UCI educators, living gospels such as those dreamed by José de la Luz and Caballero, special recognition for their self-sacrificing work of forming revolutionary men and women capable of assuming the computerization of Cuban society and being advocates of Eternal work of Fidel. Special congratulations to those colleagues who are fulfilling their mission in Venezuela, China, Angola, Namibia and Russia on behalf of the University Council and especially our Rector.
