On the afternoon of this November 1st, Mr. Simon Blagden, Fujitsu Director in the United Kingdom, visited the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), accompanied by Ralitsa Vassilovska, in charge of Public Relations in this company, and Roxana Castro, an official of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Cuba.

Fujitsu is a Japanese multinational with branches in several countries of the world, which is involved in the trade of technological equipment and computer services.

The visitors were received in the Protocol Hall of the School Building José Martí by Dr.Sc. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of UCI; Abel Díaz Berenguer, Director of International Affairs; Darvis Dorvigny Dorvigny, Computer Security Director; Ivonne Collada Peña, Director of the Language Center and Rafael Torralbas Ezpeleta, specialist in International Affairs.

During the meeting, UCI Rector explained the education, production and research processes carried out at the University, as well as some distinctiveness of this institution.

In addition, Mr. Blagden explained some details about the company he runs and his interest in being able to collaborate with our country because in the three visits he has so far made, Cuba has captivated him. He also said he believes they can help especially in issues of cybersecurity and security of banking and financial systems.

Among other interesting aspects of his visit, the Director of Fujitsu in the United Kingdom referred to topics such as the presence of women in different spheres like sciences and their management positions-- something that is not very common in his country, the figure of Julio Antonio Mella in the Cuban history, the foreign students studying at UCI, and the trademarks this house of higher studies uses for selling its products. He claimed to be very pleased with his stay in our country.

Dr. Nicado García added that it was a pleasure to have shared this moment, thanked them for the visit and invited them to come back to interact with the rest of the specialists and researchers of our university campus.
