The eighth Conference for the Environment at UCI was held this Tuesday in the premises of School Building 4 with the presence of Dr. Sc., Omar Correa Madrigal, Director of Research in this house of higher studies.

In the context of this event, which will end on Wednesday, several activities were carried out, among which were highlighted the working Commissions and the lecture dictated by Dr. María Valdés Rodríguez on environmental dimension as a transverse educational content.

In her speech, the methodologist in the Center for Innovation and Quality in Education (CICE) pointed out that in the field of higher education, the educational process should promote the inclusion of the environmental dimension, which as a result will guarantee the education of professionals to achieve environmental competencies.

She also stressed that the use of digital educational content in motivating and innovative contexts through an environmental education of the professionals turns out to be important in order to facilitate learning and decision-making skills.

In addition, the scientific debate was supported through the work of the two commissions, which examined, among others, the impact of the Cuban distribution GNU / Linux Nova on environmental care, environmental education through audiovisuals and ICT, the impact of tourism on Coastal zones and the system of actions for environmental education in the University Residence area.

In this space, which included a tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the challenge of continuing to work with the purpose of raising awareness in our community about the need to protect and improve the environment was evidently revealed.
