Protagonists of the Elections Project received recognition for their work.

An indispensable support for the 2017-2018 general election process in Cuba is undoubtedly the computer system that supports these elections. Developed by the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) the young people in it are among the protagonists of the Management and Information System of the Cuban Electoral Process.

Last July 1st, an activity was held to recognize the work of a group of professors and specialists who have worked tirelessly in the development of the application, showing a reflection of what can actually be done for the computerization of the Cuban society.

The event was chaired by Dr. C. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of our institution; Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, President of the National Electoral Commission; Colonel Marina Capó Rivalta, Deputy Director of the Technical and Systems Department of MININT and member of the National Electoral Commission; MSc. Denis Buedo Hidalgo, Vice-rector of UCI and member of the National Electoral Commission, along with other members of the University Council.

The President of the National Electoral Commission referred to the benefits of this system and the strength of working with the University of Informatics Sciences. It is a safe, robust and reliable system that allows validating the information in each step of the Cuban electoral system. She also thanked the Nova Operating System working team, the administrators and all the developers in general. "They have already become members of the electoral family."

Our Rector recognized the trajectory of the Elections Project in previous electoral processes and especially this team that has marked a milestone in the development of UCI. It constitutes a gift to the country in the year of the 15th anniversary of the University and an important contribution to the technological sovereignty of the nation. She also thanked all those who ensured the development of this System.

On behalf of the team, Aldis Joan Abreu Medina, Director of the Center for Data Management Technologies and the project leader addressed the audience; he referred to the values of the working team, their commitment, unconditionality and willingness to continue materializing the founding idea of our Commander in Chief when he created the University of Informatics Sciences.

In the activity, the following people were recognized for the development of the Management and Information System of the Cuban Electoral Process: Carlos Osvaldo Chao Cortés, René Leandro Cruz Laguna, Josué Mojena Marin, José Eduardo Trujillo Cerviño, Laura Mercedes Camacho González, Lisaidi Lucia Coca Conesa , Arianna Leydy Escalona Pérez, Karel Rodríguez Carmenates, Félix González Martínez, Ailen Lores Delgado, Aldis Joan Abreu Medina, Arian Cruz Suarez, Yanet González Diéguez, Yoan Manuel Pérez Piñero, Gretel Benítez Fajardo and Aurelio Rodriguez Durán.

Recognition for the assurance of the Nova Kiosko Operating System for the Elections was also given to: Juan Carlos Miranda Corrales, Manuel Enrique Peiso Cruz, Juan Manuel Fuentes Rodríguez and Neyvis González Trejo.

In acknowledgement of their work in the infrastructure administration of the Election Servers, there were also recognized: Yadier Perdomo Cuevas, Yoanny Torres Rubio, Hanoi Fragata Rodríguez and Joelsy Porven Rubier.
