The methodological preparation meetings for the first semester of the course 2017-2018 start
This August 23, the methodological preparation meeting for the first semester of the course 2017-2018 began at the University of Informatics Sciences(UCI) with an initial congratulatory message to women, as the date coincided with the the 57th anniversary of the creation of the Cuban Women Federation. (FMC).
In the morning, the working sessions took place in the different schools in order to welcome the faculty and outline the work projections, the attention to the students who must take special extraordinary exams, the organization of the examining boards as well as test scores. In addition, a balance of the teaching load for the first semester of the courses of Engineering in Computer Sciences and Engineering in Bioinformatics -- this last one starting this academic year, was also done during the meeting attended by methodologists, vice-deans and heads of the different disciplines.
The afternoon was reserved for a meeting with the academic leaders and heads of the development centers, the career group structure, head professors and heads of the subjects, who together with Dr Sc. Natalia Martínez Sánchez, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at UCI, analyzed in the Hall of Events of School Building 4 the strengths and weaknesses of the educational process in this institution.
Likewise, the Vice-rector reported that the FEU president of this house of higher studies, Eliani Cabrera García, had been selected as a delegate to the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students to be held in Sochi, Russia.
This workshop was carried out with the aim of presenting some aspects related to the preparation that is being developed to meet the commission of evaluators from the National Accreditation Board (JAN), composed by around 40 experts, who will be evaluating the University from December 3rd to 8th.
This commission, as stated in her speech by Dr. Rosa Adela González Noguera, Director of the Center for Innovation and Quality in Education (CICE), will have the mission of interacting with all the staff that is part of the university community, to seek the necessary documentary and testimonial evidence of each of the aspects raised in the self-evaluation report handed in by UCI a few months ago.
Dr.Sc. José Enrique Messana Váldes, head of the Methodological Department of Defense Preparation, also added that it is important for all staff to be aware of this process in order to provide the information requested by the evaluators.
For its part, Dr. Lidia Ruíz Ortíz, Director of the National Distance Education Center, referred to the digital bibliographic material provided to undergraduate and graduate students through the Virtual Learning Environment, InterNos and all the possibilities offered by the teaching learning resources available nowadays and widely used here.
In another moment of her intervention, the Director of CICE made it known that in the preparation for the external evaluation, the same guides and instruments used by the JAN have been applied during previous visits in order to familiarize all those who will be evaluated.
In concluding the meeting, Dr Sc. Martínez Sánchez emphasized that the data shown in the report already handed in are only those related to the career of Engineering in Computer Science; likewise she invited all the participants to continue participating in the rest of the activities that will be developed during this week as part of the methodological preparation for the first semester.
