Information and Communication Technologies in Uciencia 2018
The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is increasing every day throughout the world with the rapid development of computing and information technology.
During the III Uciencia 2018 International Scientific Conference, to be held from 24 to 26 September, the III International Workshop on the Impact of ICT on Society will be held as part of the event.
To learn more about this, we talked to Pedro Luis Basulto Ramírez, the coordinator of this workshop, who told us that 133 papers were received, which is considered the highest number they have received in the editions held to date.
Although they do not yet know the number of papers accepted because this review will conclude on July 5, Basulto said that among the reviewers are leading figures in the field of science, technology and society (STS) studies in Cuba such as Dr. C. Jorge Núñez Jover, linked from the beginning to the organization of the event. Dr. C. is also part of the group. Ernesto Estévez Rams, member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
On the thematic lines that will focus this workshop, said its coordinator, are the experiences in the policies and management of science, technology and innovation in universities; the renewal of the theoretical methodological frameworks of STS studies linked to ICTs adjusted to the Cuban, Latin American and third world reality; social networks and their use in the destabilization of social processes.
It also includes the history of information technology and its social linkage; the internalisation of research into production, university-company linkage and technology parks; the software project with its leading role in the innovative capacity of the university and its social interaction; and ICT and local development.
As part of the planned activities, he said that, given the quantity and quality of the work received, they will include a poster session, as well as a master lecture on the impact of UCI software on the process of computerization of Cuban society, by the Rector, Dr. C. Miriam Nicado Garcia.
Undoubtedly, this will be a meeting that will promote the exchange of experiences and the dissemination of the results of the research with all those who participate.
