A transcendental process for the students, for this institution, for the students’ organization and for the society occupies the center of attention these days at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI).

Since mid-September, the electoral process of the University Student Federation (FEU) verifies in each school the transparency and level of commitment displayed among the young people.

Actually, a sample that the university students of this higher education center know how to assume responsibilities, no matter how complicated tasks are, may be observed in the current leaders of this organization, which is close to celebrate its 95^th anniversary.

Embodied with the spirit of a leader, Amalia Roque Reyes, the president of the FEU Electoral Commission at the University, describes the essence of this democratic act that is exercised from the brigade.

"For this process, both in the schools and the University, the candidates that will be included in the ballot for the school and UCI levels are chosen in the brigades."

The President of the FEU Electoral Commission of at UCI also states that after analyzing the autobiographies of all the candidates qualifying for the ballot, this one is approved and organized. Eleven candidates are listed on the ballot, out of which nine are chosen to become the FEU representatives for each working sphere.

So far, the schools have had between 90 and 94 percent of attendance to the elections, as said by a student from School 4 this morning.

The closing of the election process by the schools will be carried out by the Introductory School of Computer Sciences (FICI) this Wednesday, October 4th. The UCI-level elections are then expected to start on October 26.

Regarding the FEU election process in the different schools, Mella news reporters talk to student leaders of this University. We inquired about the conditions that a FEU leader must show and the challenges faced as they represent the student body, the university and the Cuban society.

During a very nice exchange with Amalia Roque, she thinks about this as "one of the most important processes of the organization because it that we will be placing all our trust on the students". "I´ve had to assume a huge responsibility,” she said.

In addition, Bienvenido Roque Orfe, FEU president of School 2, considers as primary challenges the task of motivating students to participate in all activities, the power of an effective call when you try to integrate them into the activities, as well as getting closer to students so that they feel committed.

"You have to get along with the students and listen to them, but when it comes to demand from them, you have to do it as well," said the fifth-year student.

Roque Orfe, recalls how in our institution, during the recovery stage after Irma’s clash, we called for the students and they responded to the needs in the Residence area and the University.

Meanwhile, FEU coordinator of this school, Jennifer Gisper Luaces, agrees that "a leader must know how to listen to the opinions of others and should also take them into account".

"You have to exert a good example, be responsible and have initiatives."

Those who were elected, Amalia says, are the highest representatives of each school, those who defend the interests of students, who care and ensure that everything goes well, not only in the academic field, but in every space at the university.
