More committed to Cuba, the university starts the school year.
More than 10,000 schools throughout Cuba, including the University of Informatics Sciences, opened its doors this September morning to start the 2016-2017 school year.
The emblematic Plaza Mella of this house of high studies was the scene of the act that opened to a new period, chaired by Ph.D. Miriam Nicado García, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba and Rector of this institution, as well as members of the University Council.
With the motivation of the 90 years fulfilled by the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the Anniversaries 14 of the creation of our University of Informatics Sciences and 55th of the historic Literacy Campaign; Both to be held in December, opened the school year on this campus with 1 140 new students from across the country.
On behalf of the students, the current University Student Federation president, Arlenis González Rodríguez, expressed her commitment to the revolutionary process and affirmed the willingness to study to help the social development of Cuba.
The occasion was conducive to deliver the identification of members of the Communist Party of Cuba to 25 workers, from members of the Committee Party of the University. Likewise, five professors of the institution received the Frank País Second Degree Order, for the valuable teaching experience and significant contributions to educational development. Likewise, the Distinction for Cuban Education was given to Professor Manuel de Jesús Luis Díaz.
The event, which was shared with amateur artists of the university, culminated in the words of the Rector, who recalled what happened a day like today 59 years ago in the Cienfuegos Uprising, and stated that our University, in this period 2016-2017, Aims to achieve an effective and productive academic course. "We will take a course at the height of our people".
