All-started-with-surprise-of-a-chance-encounter- This December 12th , the day that will bring forever the presence of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro to the UCI, was inaugurated the History Room of the University of Informatics Sciences in building 1 by the Rector of the institution, PhD. Miriam Nicado García.
In his opening remarks, the Vice- rector of University Extension, MSc. Silvano Merced Len signified Fidel's importance to history: "there can not be a good political education if there is no good historical education, there can not be a good revolutionary formation if there is no good historical formation."
The History Room preserves, stores and protects the historical heritage of the UCI through texts, images, documents and objects.
In summary, the Room presents the main historical milestones of the institution's 14 years, to which the historian of this university city, Mr. Severino Hernández Pita, referred.
This place enclosures treasures of a virtuous time, filling every space of Fidel's will and his confidence in man.
This Room is a historical heritage of the University, a source of political-ideological education for the professional and a strengthening of the sense of identity and belonging to this center.
Opening this historical room l to the community and visitors, concludes the Day 14 × 90 and notes, above all, the decisive contribution of different people and entities in the collection, organization, study, research and selection of documents.
