The III Workshop on Educational Work was held at UCI
During the morning session of this July 6th, the 3rd Workshop on Educational Work organized by the General Directorate of Residence was held in School Building 6 at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI).
To open this meeting, dedicated to "Fidel's thinking on the new generations", the Residence General Director, MSc., José Luis Bencomo Atanay, welcomed the attendees and presented an audiovisual material dedicated to our historical leader, as seen from the perspective of personalities who had direct contact with him.
The opening session was attended by Dr. Sc. Nereyda Cruz Tejas, professor at the Pedagogical University Enrique José Varona, who gave a keynote speech on the theme "Fidel and Education: the formation of a culture of peace".
Dr. Cruz Tejas referred to the importance of the development of habits and values in students during their education, the educational work that must be developed by educators to avoid violence in the school sector, the need to encourage in students a culture of Peace and to educate men and women in the fulfillment of their duties.
Likewise, she mentioned the guidelines of Cuban educational policy, among which outstand the relationship between instruction and education, the role of personal example, the link between education and culture in the development of personality and the development of a comprehensive general culture, among others.
At the end of her presentation, the professor received an acknowledgment from the Board because of her collaboration and for having contributed to the education of the first Masters in Education from this house of higher studies.
Six papers were also presented by the representatives from different UCI residential areas on topics such as: student self-government through joint work with the students organizational structures, youth far away from addictions, responsible sexuality avoiding STD / AIDS, values in the context of the residence, and young people regarding prevention and protection of the environment.
In closing the event, the presenters were given recognition; the award “Fidel among us” was given to two outstanding apartments in the emulation carried out in the residence area; in addition, Yusdel Meriño Almaguer, Residence 2 Director, was conferred a certificate on completion of his Public Administration Diploma studies in the Higher Studies School for leaders of the Communist Party and the Revolution.
