As a result of their consistency and permanent study within the processes of Cuban Higher Education, several professors were given their advanced degree titles. Professors Juan Antonio Plasencia Soler and Elizabeth Rodriguez Stiven presently hold the teaching category of Associate Professor; in addition, the university now counts with a new Full Professor, Dr.C. Fidel Antonio Castro Smirnov.
Another very special moment was the conferring of awards to professors and researchers for their significant results. The awards were received from the very hands of the Rector of our institution by the following professionals: Dr. Sc., Ramón Santana, because of his CITMA honourable mention in the category of Young Investigator, and Lionel Rodolfo Baquero Hernández, for obtaining a CITMA honourable mention in the category of Student Researcher.
Prof. Dr.Sc., Juan Pedro Febles Rodríguez was honored by his colleagues because of his excellent results in the research and postgraduate studies, which made him worthy of the Special Distinction of the Ministry of Higher Education.
Dr Sc., Fidel Antonio Castro Smirnov also received a special recognition for having been awarded the Prize of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba.
Thus, in a simple and emotional ceremony, where the leader of the Cuban Revolution and his futuristic vision of turning Cuba into a country of men of science and thought was also remembered, the precept that theoretical knowledge linked to praxis constitutes a transformative social force that promotes the sustainable development of society is thus materialized.
Congratulations to all.
