From April 24th to 28th, a commission from the National Accreditation Board (known as JAN) will visit the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) to evaluate the Doctoral Program in Computer Science and the Master in Software Quality that is taught at this academic institution.
In order to clarify the details for this verification visit, a presentation of the professors of the staff, graduates, and students of this Master's Degree was gathered in Hall 3 of the Rectorate on April 5th to know all the data that will be presented to the evaluators.
Ph.D. Yaimí Trujillo Casañola, the coordinator of this program, presented to the audience the most relevant aspects that up to now have characterized the three editions that will be evaluated, although it is important to note that a fourth is open that will not be taken into account by the group of Evaluator.
Trujillo Casañola explained that this postgraduate training was approved in 2010, by the Advisory Commission for Postgraduate Education (Copep) and the Ministry of Higher Education, to train software professionals capable of undertaking tasks related to the management of Quality in software development projects.
She also added other interesting information such as the composition of the staff which has 28 professors, from which 24 are doctors - six are graduates of the Doctoral Program of the UCI - and four hold a master's degree.
She also stated that they have 112 articles published with arbitration in each of the four existing levels, have graduated 31 masters in this specialty, allowing the creation of the National Group of Experts in Software Quality and the Software Quality Research Group (Grisoft ).
Likewise, added this young doctor that tools have been developed and implemented to facilitate the processes for the productive development activity of the University and there is concrete evidence of the results applied in the Network of Centers of this house of high studies, in the National Software Quality Center (Calisoft), the Cuban National Software Company (Desoft SA), the Integrated Technologies Research Complex (Citi) and the Information Technology Defense Company (Xetid).
The Master Coordinator stated that the processes undertaken as a result of the research were introduced and enabled the successful development of two assessments at Level 2 of the Integrated Maturity and Capacity Model (CMMI).
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy rector of the institution, Ph.D. Raydel Montesino Perurena, who valued the excellent presentation and considers that the Master's Program has results that support it to be positive to obtain the highest category.
