Minister of Higher Education checks conditions for the beginning of the school year in the UCI

With the presence of directors of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES), political mass organisations and officials from the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), a meeting was held on Tuesday August 28th to check the current conditions and insurance for the start of the new school year 2018-2019, in this university of higher learning.
The working meeting was chaired by Dr. C. Ramón Saborido Loidi, Minister of Higher Education; Dr. C. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of the UCI; David Lahera Rodríguez, official of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Silvado Merced Len, General Secretary of PCC in the UCI. Other officials from MES, the FEU National Secretariat and the Provincial Committee Party in Havana were also present.
In her presentation, our Rector referred to the enrolment for this course, the human resources available to the institution to guarantee its fundamental processes, the available teaching infrastructure, the teaching module for students, teachers and production specialists, the food and transport situation, as well as the financial security.
Also, Dr. C. Nicado García commented on the main projections of the University for this stage, the most relevant projects in which there are important commitments and the events to be developed soon. She highlighted in a special way the celebration of the UCIENCIA 2018 event from September 24th to 26th.
The Minister of Higher Education then explained the situation at the beginning of the new school year in all Higher Education Institutions in the country. It dealt with aspects such as furniture, the material basis of study, teaching coverage and connectivity.
He made special reference to the process of popular consultation on the new Constitution, which will count on the contribution of the entire people and especially of the Cuban university community.
Saborido Loidi called for a diversification of university offerings to continue responding to the country's employment needs.
Finally, he thanked the UCI, its students, teachers, specialists and workers for the results and the prestige achieved, and above all "for being consistent with the ideas of the Commander in Chief".
