Master's Degree in Applied Medical Informatics

The Center for Medical Informatics (CESIM) and the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Technologies (CITEC) of the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) have designed and implemented the Master's Degree in Applied Medical Informatics. It is aimed at informatics professionals who work in health institutions and in the non-state sector, and who contribute directly, from their jobs, to the informatization of Cuban health. Exceptionally, the Academic Committee may accept professionals from the health sector with a recognized trajectory in the field of informatics.

The master's degree will enable the development of professionals with an academic-scientific training, which will allow them to undertake teaching, management, research, development and technological innovation work, at the intersection of the fields of informatics and public health, with a deep mastery of the scientific method. It will also provide them with the skills to perform their functions with an updated vision of informatics techniques and their current and prospective degree of application in the different spheres of Public Health.

  • Telemedicine and teleradiology.
  • Management, analysis and integration of biological and clinical data.
  • Clinical trials and Bioinformatics.
  • Big data in health and eHealth.
  • Business intelligence and expert systems to support decision making in health information systems.
 

Program structure

To obtain the Master's degree in Applied Medical Informatics it is necessary to accumulate at least 60 credits structured as follows:

Enrollment requirements

  • Be a university graduate 
  • Comply with the admission requirements of the Master's Program.
  • Submit all the documentation required and explained in the program.
  • For foreigners not graduated from Cuban universities, additional documentation legalization requirements are specified.
