Program of Excellence, accredited by the National Accreditation Board.
Honorable Mention for the Quality of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies in Ibero-America awarded by the Ibero-American University Association of Postgraduate Studies (AUIP).
The PhD program in Informatics aims to train PhDs in Technical Sciences in the area of informatics with high scientific and technical knowledge in correspondence with international standards and the present and future needs of society, through a solid theoretical-methodological, technical and research training, identified with their social function, allowing them to perform successfully in the management and development of research and production activities independently and creatively.
The scientific degree of Doctor in Technical Sciences at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), as an authorized institution, is obtained in two ways: part-time and full-time.
PhDs in Technical Sciences have a high capacity for:
- The resolution of complex problems related to computer science, in correspondence with international standards and the present and future needs of the country.
- Obtaining new theoretical results of practical relevance and facilitating the technological transfer of research.
- The integration as a scientist in multidisciplinary teams and research, as well as in universities and scientific development or technological innovation entities, fostering effective cooperation.
- Effective dissemination of the scientific results obtained and knowledge acquired.

Evaluation system
Given the flexibility of the program structure, the individual training plan of each doctoral student will be shaped according to the demands of the selected research topic, at the proposal of the research group to which he/she belongs and the designated tutor. The basic and specific contents will be chosen within the postgraduate system of the area of knowledge or related to it, as long as they meet the quality requirements established by the Doctoral Committee. The total number of credits to be earned by the doctoral student is 100, distributed by components. The doctoral student can obtain more credits, as many as he/she is able to demonstrate.
