This afternoon, the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) confirmed unconditional brotherhood with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and with the unity and independence of the countries in America, on the opening of the Honor Room “Pensamiento Bolivariano” (“Bolivarian Thought”), presided over by the Rector, Dra.Sc., Miriam Nicado García.

In her opening speech, the Dean of School 4, Dr Sc., Dunia Colomé Cedeño, read Rectoral Resolution No. 119, 2017 formalizing the creation of the "Bolivarian Thought" Honor Room, attached to UCI and functioning in the aforementioned school.

The Dean underlined the need to promote and disseminate the study of the heroes of independence in Latin America, an essence of the Cuban revolutionary ideology, and in that sense, to educate the new generations.

The Chairman of the Honor Room Board, Dr. Sc., Manuel Villanueva Betancourt, highlighted the value of knowledge of the Latin American history and evoked the memory of Bolivar’s disciples, as well as that of our Martí, Fidel and Chávez, men who fought for an independent and united America, without surrendering to adversities.

UCI inaugurates on Tuesday the Honor Room "Bolivarian Thought" with a sample of 15 works of art coming from the Simón Bolívar House in Old Havana, among them 13 paintings and two sculptures of the Venezuelan leader.

It was precisely on June 27, but in 1818, that the Venezuelan newspaper Correo del Orinoco was released, founded by Bolivar as a propaganda organ during the Venezuelan War of Independence.
