In the midst of the heat for the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), the name of Barbara Labori de la Nuez emerges as someone who has definitely left an imprint on this higher education center.

She is just a modest woman, who does not like to proclaim everything she has achieved in the scientific field; she prefers to share her memories about that stage in which being a teacher of CUJAE university, she was seduced by the idea of belonging to an institution devised by the most universal man with whom she had weaved her fate.

“Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, has always been an important figure in my life, so knowing that he was the person who felt the achievements of this house of higher studies as if they were his own, and seeing that I could contribute to develop the idea that the conceived, has certainly left deep marks in me both as a woman and a professional. "

Thus, Professor Barbara emerges full of life and willingness to contribute with her knowledge in the Programming Department of School 2. In fact, she has held various responsibilities in this institution which she also considers like her second home.

"This institution has been very important for me, being one of the newest centers of higher education in Cuba, it has already achieved relevant achievements such as developing a specialty which combines production and training in a different way from this same specialty already studied in our country.

UCI gave me the opportunity to learn that I could do things I had never thought about, I developed skills as a worker and I could even organize my life in a better way, as I had to combine different responsibilities.UCI has helped me develop my working abilities and has allowed me to face greater challenges. What´s more I feel that I´ve been able to exert some influence on the new generations that have enrolled in this University. "

In all this period there has been practically no task where the presence of this woman has not been felt, and she knows this project thoroughly because she is among those first people who actually treasured it.

"Being part of the staff at UCI has an important connotation because of our support to the computerization of the national society and the contribution that this institution has made to the economy of the country, as well as the collaboration with sister nations."

In the course of the interview the questions that arise are all answered by this knowledgeable professional, with whom interaction feels like attending a master class.

"Although throughout this period I have fulfilled several roles, transmitting my knowledge to others in this context is one of the things that comforts me the most."

The essence of this University relies on teachers who, like Bárbara Laborí de la Nuez, offer their souls so that the new generations continue to defend and support the Revolution.
